If you blinked, you probably missed a goal. The Boston Gold Kings and Holyoke Papermen delivered a 13-goal rollercoaster Saturday night that ended with a late strike from Boston’s Cam Cordio, giving the Gold Kings a 7–6 victory in one of the most entertaining games of the young PPSHL season.

Boston fired a season-high 45 shots on goal, while Holyoke hung around all night thanks to clutch scoring from Doug Sattler and Max Moriarty.

The opening frame set the tone early. Just 3:09 into the game, Boston’s CJ Grinnell drew first blood on the power play, sneaking one past Holyoke’s Chris Holland off quick passing from Cam Cordio and Joey O’Leary.

Holyoke evened things up at 8:13 when Doug Sattler buried a loose puck in the slot after a scramble in front of Mike Cowell.

Boston’s power play struck again at 13:19 — Mike DeLisio ripped a low shot through traffic, set up by Tony DiCostanzo, to give the Kings a 2–1 lead heading into intermission.

The second period was hockey anarchy. Boston opened fast with Brandon Garneau finishing a feed from Cordio at 1:48 to make it 3–1. Holyoke answered immediately. Just over a minute later, Max Moriarty finished a breakaway setup from Zack Lillie, cutting the deficit to one.

Then the Papermen tied it up on the man advantage. At 6:18, Noah Hemenway put home on a pass from Moriarty and Sattler to make it 3–3. But no tie was safe for long. Less than three minutes later, Boston’s CJ Grinnell scored short-handed, finishing a beautiful pass from Tony DiCostanzo for a 4–3 lead.

Holyoke wouldn’t quit. Doug Sattler struck again on the power play at 9:37, assisted by Danny Loughlin, knotting it at four apiece. From there, Boston’s top line went to work. Cam Cordio restored the lead at 11:32 on a quick give-and-go with Joey O’Leary, then added another on the power play at 17:46, snapping home a laser from the high slot to make it 6–4 Kings after two.

Holyoke wasn’t ready to fold. At 4:04 of the third, Max Moriarty struck again, finishing a smooth setup from Kyle Levere to bring the Papermen within one. Then, at 16:20, the Papermen finally completed the comeback. Danny Loughlin found the back of the net after a slick passing play from Sean Egan and Sattler, tying the game 6–6 and sending the Holyoke bench into celebration.

But with 1:20 left on the clock, Cam Cordio ruined the Papermen’s rally, hammering home his third goal of the night off another crisp pass from O’Leary to seal the 7–6 win for Boston.
