Boston Gold Kings Dominate Norfolk Mallards 8–1 Behind Cordio and Cebula’s Two-Goal Performances
November 7, 2025- New England Sports Village, Attleboro, MA
The Boston Gold Kings continued their blazing start to the PPSHL Northeast season Friday night with a commanding 8–1 victory over the Norfolk Mallards at the New England Sports Village.
From the opening puck drop, Boston controlled every facet of the game — outshooting Norfolk 53–32, converting twice on the power play, and getting a strong goaltending performance from Kyle Mahan, who stopped 31 of 32 shots to earn the win.
Boston wasted no time getting on the board. Just 37 seconds in, Brian Bilafer buried a feed from Tony DiCostanzo, setting the tone for the night.
A few minutes later, Brian Cebula extended the lead to 2–0 off a setup from Shawn Savela, before Norfolk answered with a power-play goal from Ben Giovanella at 9:52 to make it 2–1.
But the Gold Kings roared back immediately. Cam Cordio finished off a slick passing play from DiCostanzo and JT Freedman at 13:17, and Cebula struck again — this time on the power play — at 18:40 to give Boston a 4–1 lead after one.
DiCostanzo finished the opening period with three assists, anchoring Boston’s explosive top line.
The Gold Kings kept their foot on the gas in the middle frame. Will Forte made it 5–1 early in the period, converting off a setup from Sebastian Alvarez at 4:27.
Then, on the power play at 12:27, Derek Clark found the back of the net with assists from Drew Carney and — who else — DiCostanzo, pushing the lead to 6–1.
Boston’s offense rolled, while Mahan stayed sharp in net, turning aside several key chances during a flurry of Norfolk power plays.
The Kings added two more for good measure in the third. Matt Baldino scored at 14:15 to make it 7–1, and Cam Cordio capped the night with his second goal at 17:13, assisted by Savela and Bilafer.
By the final horn, Boston had racked up eight goals from six different players, while Norfolk had no answers for the Kings’ relentless attack.
