Holyoke’s depth scoring and Natour’s 41-save performance fuel win
In a blistering matchup at Olympia Ice Center, the Holyoke Papermen outlasted the Boston Gold Kings 6–3 on Saturday night. The contest featured fast-paced offense, standout goaltending, and key performances across Holyoke’s lineup as they handed Boston their second straight loss.
The action kicked off immediately as Holyoke’s Danny Loughlin surprised everyone with a goal just 25 seconds into the game, assisted by Doug Sattler and Kyle Levere, setting the tone early. Boston wasn’t rattled—less than a minute later, Matt Baldino answered with a quick equalizer off passes from Joey O’Leary and Shamus Doherty.
Throughout the opening period, both teams traded chances and matched each other nearly shot for shot (16–15 in favor of Holyoke), but it was JD Anderson who broke the tie at the 8:03 mark with an unassisted goal, finishing from the high slot to give Holyoke a 2–1 lead that lasted through intermission.
The Gold Kings were aggressive on the forecheck and had a power play opportunity, but failed to capitalize, giving Holyoke the edge heading into the second.
Holyoke widened the gap in the second period, scoring three times before Boston could respond. Doug Sattler started the run just 61 seconds in, burying a shot assisted by JD Anderson and Zack Lillie. Then Mark Laviolette followed up with a shorthanded breakaway goal off a solo effort.
Later, Cody Samson found the back of the net after a miss played puck snuck by the Gold Kings goalie at 15:17 on a setup from Cody Cleveland, before Boston’s Cam Cordio finally responded with a goal assisted by Nick McNally to make it 5–2 late in the frame.
Max Moriarty added an insurance goal early in the third at 3:11, assisted by Cody Samson and Cody Cleveland, making it 6–2. Boston’s Christian Baldino answered midway through the period on a feed from Cam Cordio, but the Gold Kings couldn’t mount a late push.
