Reapers Unleash Offensive Avalanche, Rout Mallards 14–2 at McCann Arena

January 3, 2026 — McCann Ice Arena, Poughkeepsie, NY

The Hudson Valley Reapers delivered one of the most dominant performances of the season Saturday night, erupting for 12 unanswered goals and overwhelming the Norfolk Mallards in a 14–2 victory at McCann Ice Arena.

After a tightly contested opening period, Hudson Valley flipped the game on its head with a relentless second-period surge, turning a one-goal contest into a runaway before the midway point of the night. The Reapers finished with a commanding 53–27 edge in shots and scored nine times in the second period alone.

1st Period – Physical, Even Start

Hudson Valley struck first at 6:10, as Taylor Traenkle capitalized on the power play, finishing a setup from Robert Clerc and Trevor Souza to make it 1–0. Norfolk answered at 13:17, when Patrick Keenan beat the Reapers’ netminder at even strength off assists from Paul Tower and Caden Rakes, knotting the game at 1–1.

Just 1:29 into the period, Kyle Horsa scored short-handed, finishing a feed from Corey Dunn to give the Reapers the lead for good. From there, the floodgates opened.

Over a blistering 13-minute span, Hudson Valley rattled off 10 goals, overwhelming Norfolk’s defensive structure and forcing multiple goalie changes. Goals came from all over the lineup, including tallies by Robert Clerc, Kyle Canny, Nick Shepheard (2), Trevor Souza, Gavin Frack (2), Connor Woolley, and Ethan Bowman.

Norfolk briefly answered at 4:22 with a goal from David Duffy, but it was immediately swallowed up by the Reapers’ relentless push.

By the time the dust settled, Hudson Valley carried an astonishing 11–2 lead into the second intermission.

Despite the lopsided score, the Reapers continued to apply pressure in the third.

Ethan Bowman struck again at 6:39, followed by goals from Corey Dunn at 10:40 and Anthony Percacciolo at 17:20, closing the scoring at 14–2.

The physical edge remained sharp throughout the final period, with multiple minors and fighting majors, but Hudson Valley maintained control from start to finish.
