Sasquatch Control Play, Top Mallards 5–1 at Salem Ice Center
January 17, 2026 — Salem Ice Center, Salem, NH.
The Salem Sasquatch leaned on steady five-on-five scoring and a strong performance in goal to pull away from the Norfolk Mallards, earning a 5–1 win Saturday night at Salem Ice Center.
Salem outshot Norfolk 46–36, controlled long stretches of play after the opening minutes, and limited the Mallards to a single power-play goal as the game wore on.
Salem wasted little time opening the scoring. Just 53 seconds into the game, Tucker Twardosky finished an even-strength chance off a feed from Dylan Vrees, giving the Sasquatch an early 1–0 lead.
The remainder of the period was physical but scoreless, with both teams trading minor penalties. Norfolk had chances to respond, but Salem’s defensive structure and goaltending kept the Mallards off the board.
The Sasquatch broke the game open early in the second. At 0:41, Mark Blaney doubled the lead, converting a setup from Tom Tracy. Just 1:20 later, Tracy struck himself, finishing a passing sequence from John Hamilton and Blaney to make it 3–0.
Norfolk answered at 3:54 on the power play when Zachary Lewis snapped home a shot off an assist from Patrick Keenan, briefly shifting momentum.
The period was also marked by discipline issues, including a game misconduct and major penalty assessed to Salem’s Isaac Rogers for kneeing, but the Sasquatch penalty kill held firm the rest of the way.
Salem reasserted control in the third with two more even-strength goals. At 5:55, Tom Tracy scored his second of the night, finishing a play started by Jared Henderson and Ryan McDonald. The Sasquatch capped the scoring at 14:28, when McDonald found the net off assists from Henderson and Tracy to push the lead to 5–1.
Norfolk generated pressure late but was unable to solve Salem’s goaltending, closing out the contest without further scoring.
