Reapers Overwhelm Papermen in 12–6 Offensive Showcase at McCann Ice Arena

January 17, 2026 — McCann Ice Arena, Poughkeepsie, NY

The Hudson Valley Reapers turned McCann Ice Arena into a shooting gallery Saturday night, erupting for eleven goals over the final two periods to pull away from the Holyoke Papermen in a 12–6 victory.

Hudson Valley fired a season-high 67 shots on goal, controlled play at even strength, and leaned on a relentless forecheck to break open what was a tightly contested game early.

Holyoke struck first midway through the opening frame. At 6:26, Sean Egan finished an even-strength chance off a feed from JD Anderson, giving the Papermen a 1–0 lead.

Hudson Valley responded late. With just five seconds remaining, Nick DiNicola buried an even-strength goal from Robert Clerc and Ethan Bowman, sending the teams to intermission deadlocked.

The second period turned into a back-and-forth scoring spree.

Hudson Valley grabbed its first lead at 1:47 when Taylor Traenkle converted a setup from Nick DiNicola and Kyle Canny. Holyoke answered at 4:10 as Patrick Fleming scored off passes from JD Anderson and Jimmy Carlin.

The Reapers then began to surge. Connor Woolley scored at 5:12, followed just 20 seconds later by Traenkle’s second of the night to make it 4–2.

Despite a Holyoke response from Fleming at 11:37, Hudson Valley kept pushing.

A short-handed goal by DiNicola at 10:18 swung momentum decisively, and Traenkle completed his hat trick at 12:49. Holyoke stayed within striking distance with goals from JD Anderson and Patrick Fleming, but Nick Shepheard capped the period at 19:04, restoring a three-goal cushion.

Holyoke opened the third quickly as JD Anderson scored just 11 seconds in, but that would be the final moment of resistance.

Hudson Valley responded with a dominant stretch, scoring five goals in just over 13 minutes. Connor Woolley, Trevor Souza, Nick DiNicola, and Edward Cho all found the net before Shepheard added his second of the night at 17:04.

Holyoke added a late goal at 17:38 by Anderson from Doug Sattler and Fleming, but the outcome was long decided.
