Gold Kings Control Tempo, Down Sasquatch 6–3 in Salem
January 31, 2026 — The Salem Icenter – Salem, NH
The Boston Gold Kings continued their strong push in the PPSHL Northeast on Saturday night, using steady pressure, timely special teams, and a disciplined defensive effort to earn a 6–3 road win over the Salem Sasquatch at Icenter Salem.
Boston dictated play for long stretches, outshooting Salem 42–32 and cashing in on key moments to keep the Sasquatch from ever fully swinging momentum. Despite multiple pushes from the home side, the Gold Kings answered nearly every surge, showcasing why they remain one of the league’s most composed teams away from home.
The opening period was defined by structure and patience. Both teams traded controlled zone time, but quality chances were limited early as each side tested the other’s defensive discipline.
Boston finally broke through late in the frame. At 17:39, Cam Cordio found space in the slot and snapped home an even-strength goal off feeds from Derek Clark and Evan Morelli, giving the Gold Kings a 1–0 edge.
Salem pushed back physically in the closing minutes, but Boston carried the narrow lead into the intermission.
Salem came out with urgency in the second and quickly found the equalizer. At 5:24, Ryan McDonald buried an even-strength chance after a clean setup from Jared Henderson, tying the game at one and energizing the home crowd.
Boston answered less than four minutes later. Nick McNally restored the lead at 8:55, finishing a crisp sequence created by Joey O’Leary and Tony DiCostanzo.
The Sasquatch refused to fade. At 11:24, Tucker Twardosky struck at even strength, converting a feed from Jonah Bird to knot the game again at 2–2.
From there, Boston reasserted control. Derek Clark responded at 12:52, scoring off assists from Shane Carta and DiCostanzo, and the Gold Kings capped the period with a power-play goal from Cam Cordio at 17:25 to take a 4–2 lead into the third.
Salem wasted no time cutting into the deficit. Just 43 seconds into the third, Tom Tracy pulled the Sasquatch within one, finishing a play set up by Jared Henderson and Ryan McDonald.
That would be as close as it got.
